Buy Cannabis Seeds at Herbies Seeds
About Us
At Herbies Seeds, we have been helping both new and experienced growers choose cannabis seeds for more than 20 years. We got our start with seeds from producers we trust. Over time, we gained enough experience to create our own seed bank. While developing it, we paid special attention to seed quality, genetics, and strain stability - things that matter to growers. Since then, we've kept our own seeds in the mix, along with seeds from producers who've been doing this for years.
If you're choosing marijuana seeds, our site lets you filter them and browse different themed collections. You can also check detailed strain characteristics, reviews, and grow reports. Our goal is to help you find a suitable strain and understand before buying whether it is right for you. We also want to answer questions about shipping conditions, payment methods, and the guarantee. We regularly ask growers what could work better in our selection, on the site, and in the support team's work, then make the needed changes.
On our blog, we answer questions about cannabis seeds and the finished product. If you need an answer about a particular strain or order, our support team works 24/7. We can help you choose and sort out the situation that came up.
We want you to enjoy what you like about growing. Picking seeds and getting an order placed shouldn't be where things get difficult.

A Few Things Worth Knowing About Cannabis Seeds
People buy cannabis seeds, or marijuana seeds as some call them, for different reasons. Growers say the main reason is wanting to keep the growing process in their own hands and know what happens at every stage. Many also enjoy the process itself, from giving a seed its start in life to caring for it and watching it grow.
Once you start looking for a strain, it can get tricky, especially if you're new to growing. A whole lot of specifications and unfamiliar terms don't help much if a site has no clear explanations, photos, reviews, or curated selections. Seeds differ in several ways. The big ones are plant sex, flowering type, cannabinoid levels (THC, CBD, and others), and genetics. Let's start with the differences that help cut the list down.
Feminized and Regular Seeds
One of the first questions is whether a seed can grow into a female or male plant. On this basis, seeds are divided into feminized and regular types.
Feminized marijuana seeds grow into female plants 99.9% of the time. Female plants make the flower clusters we know as “buds,” with resin containing cannabinoids such as THC and CBD. If you want to use what you grow for the effects cannabis is known for, feminized seeds are the way to go. Feminized seeds currently account for 98% of our sales.
Regular cannabis seeds can grow into female plants or male ones. They often come into the picture for breeding, since pollen from male plants makes it possible to cross different genetic lines. If breeding is what you have in mind, take a look at regular seeds. Both feminized and regular seeds can be autoflowering or photoperiod.
You can read more about the differences between feminized and regular seeds in our separate guide.
Autoflowering and Photoperiod Seeds
The next distinction is what sets flowering in motion. Our catalog includes autoflowering and photoperiod seeds.
Autoflowering strains begin to flower as they mature, regardless of whether daylight hours become shorter. This process is determined by their genetics. Before flowering, the plant goes through the vegetative stage, when it grows and develops foliage. It then produces flower clusters. Autoflowering seeds are worth considering if a generally shorter growing cycle is important to you and you don't want to make a project of changing the light schedule.
Photoperiod strains, on the other hand, begin to flower when daylight hours become shorter. Indoors, you can control when this happens by changing the light schedule. This lets you keep the plant in its vegetative stage longer and gives you more runway to fix mistakes made early in the grow. This is why the idea that autoflowering seeds are better for beginners is a misconception. Outdoors, these plants respond to the natural shortening of daylight hours. Photoperiod strains often take longer than autoflowers overall, although faster versions exist. A shorter flowering period does not make them autoflowers.

Other Things to Consider
Next, think about the conditions in which you plan to grow, if growing is allowed where you live. How much space do you have? Will the plant grow indoors or outdoors? How much do growing time, plant size, and care requirements matter to you? Answering these questions will narrow your options faster than simply looking for the strain with the highest THC content.
Then compare genetic backgrounds, listed characteristics, and aroma profiles. If you still have too many options, try our seed finder.
Growers also often look at THC and CBD content. These are two cannabinoids found in cannabis. THC causes intoxication, or a “high.” CBD generally does not have that effect, although it also affects the body.
You can learn more about these and other cannabinoids in our article.
What to Look for on a Strain Page
A strain's name alone won't tell you whether it's right for you, though it may reflect its genetics. Check who produced it, then compare its characteristics with your growing conditions and preferences: plant size, growing time, and any other details that matter to you.

Legality and Local Rules
Under current US federal law, buying and possessing cannabis seeds is generally not prohibited if the seeds meet the definition of hemp. That does not mean you can germinate them or grow plants in every state. State and local cultivation rules may differ, so check the requirements where you live before germinating seeds. You can read more in our article on cannabis seed laws in the US.
