Caramelo Early Version Strain Info

Its breeder, Delicious Seeds, is known for its potent and flavorful plants. Caramelo combines both Sativa and Indica genetics for a well-rounded experience.

Genetics

This hybrid comes from a broad lineage of hardy strains and an exceptionally diverse family tree, including Hawaiian, Afghan, Colombian, and Mexican roots. As such, you can expect it to grow without too much fuss. Its phenotypes tend to grow quickly but still produce quality flowers.

Flowering Time

The flowering time is an impressive 45 days due to the Early Version of this strain, and outdoors, this will translate to early September for harvesting.

Yields

One great trait about this strain is the harvest that it offers. For an indoor cultivator, you should see about 450g/m² (1.5oz/ft2), while outdoor growers can expect 900g (2lbs) per plant.

Effects

The primary effects are euphoria and an uplifting head high. Physically, you will feel relaxed with a calming sensation and a pain-numbing experience. Its unique combination of Indica and Sativa genes allows it to be enjoyed all day.

Medical Properties

While it contains no CBD, this strain can be used medically. Those with anxiety and stress will love its calming nature, as you experience both a body and mind high for all-over relief. Its potency is considerable but won't leave you too spacy.

THC and CBD Levels

Despite having zero CBD, this is a favorite among many consumers. It does have a high enough THC content to win new users over – you can anticipate around 25%, meaning it packs a punch.

Smell and Taste

The unique terpene profile of this strain offers an interesting flavor and aroma. You can expect sweet, fruity flavors followed by a musky lavender and licorice finish. This eclectic group of terpenes must be tried to appreciate the strain’s complexity fully. Its incredible smell is the result of crossing it with Lavender twice. The aroma will certainly entice anyone to keep coming back for more.

Grow Tips

The plant grows like an Indica and has a Christmas tree-like form with vigorous side-branching and a good bud-to-leaf ratio, so expect plenty of thick buds. This strain is also very well suited for SCROG systems due to responding well to pruning. Here’s some more info and grow tips to help you with the strain’s cultivation:

  • This strain has high resistance to pests and molds
  • Indoors, plants can be placed close to one another, while plants outdoors need more space for flowering
  • A good rule of thumb for watering is 1 liter/plant per 24 hours.

    • Advantages
A beautiful plant with elegant growth and an enchanting aroma. Sweet, nutty, cannabis scent. That's the main advantage. Another advantage lies in the overall impression.
    • Disadvantages

    • General impressions

It grows well with a medium stretch and just needs normal feeding. Absolutely adorable bud sites! Later in flowering, it gave me the most beautiful colors: orange, purple, even blackish. The buds are rock hard and full of trichomes, the pistils are bright orange, and the petioles are purple and dark green. The smoke is smooth right after drying, with a sweet and creamy taste. The grinder smells like nuts, ice, and grass. Truly amazing!! Caramelo's effects are more sativa-like; it makes me super inspired and creative. But I always feel very grounded with it. Some sativas have given me a hard time, but not this one!

    • Advantages
      • Beautiful colors • Vigorous vegetative growth • Shorter/denser structure • Lovely scent of sweet syrup and lavender
    • Disadvantages
      • On the more open side of the density • Lower yield • Phosphorus avidity towards the end of flowering • Smaller buds
    • General impressions

This is a very dense, stocky plant with abundant lateral branching. It grows well, perhaps just above average, and is quite manageable. Its structure is close to short, dense indica varieties, although it produces buds that look more like its sativa side. A very good cultivar to keep for a small indoor grow by a sativa enthusiast. I wish I had cloned it to see how well it would do, but I expect it to be easy to clone. With its dense vegetative growth, it can produce many clones to keep. It absorbs nutrients very well, perhaps being slightly calcium-starved. It's a pretty feeder overall, although towards the end of flowering, it starts to need more phosphorus. On day 22 of flowering, it started to develop purple resin on the tips of the leaves, slowly spreading back towards the buds on all the tops. This leads to a green bud with dark purple sugar leaves emerging on day 30 of flowering. It produces an oily, non-sticky resin that smells like syrup with strong lavender undertones by day 25 of flowering. The flowers formed attractive, foot-long colas but did not develop into dense buds. They remain smaller, 1-1.5 inches in diameter, but the buds are still growing and forming colas. The lower buds are very airy, so sucking the canopy from the middle to the bottom is highly recommended. I only harvested 117g from my tent, which is below average, so this isn't a high-yielding cultivar. Normally, I get 45-50g per square foot, and this girl gave me 25g, so unless you need a short flowering time or you like the taste, I'd look elsewhere. Even if I had followed her phosphorus requirements, I doubt she would have doubled her yield.
