Moby Dick has a decades-long history. It originated in the famed Amsterdam labs, but the genetic material was sourced from the U.S., where the hunt was on for the most resinous Sativa phenotypes. The result is a 65% Sativa with its characteristic uplifting and creative high, while the 35% Indica part plays the role of making this beast tamed and ‘housebroken’.

Genetics

The lineage of Moby Dick is a classic one. The goal was to take the most productive Haze phenotype and further improve on its commercial potential with White Widow. We therefore took a Ginger Ale female, unrivaled in the density of its buds, and crossed it with a WW male.

Flowering Time

A short flowering time of only 60-70 days (or even less in some cases) is another highlight of this beautiful strain. Indoor growers craving Sativa buds are often put off by the longer maturation of this type of weed, but with Moby Dick, they won’t be.

Yields

Indoor growers can expect to achieve nice yields of up to 750g/m² (2.4oz/ft²). While this is way above average, it’s outdoors where Moby Dick really shines, producing up to 1.5-1.8kg (3.3-4lb) per plant.

Effects

Moby Dick produces a blissfully cerebral, creative high that’s perfect for smokers who start their day with a bowl and smoke until late at night. It also creates enough of a body buzz for the user to feel euphoric and relaxed.

THC and CBD Levels

The THC content in well-grown samples reaches 27-29%, which is an extremely high percentage for any strain, especially a classic Sativa. CBD levels are practically non-existent.

Smell and Taste

The terpene profile of Moby Dick is reminiscent of other old-school Hazes and produces a sweet citrus smell with modest piney notes, while the taste is smooth and earthy on the palate.

Indoors, Moby Dick plants can reach a medium height of up to 110-130cm (3.5-4.5ft), while outdoor crops can reach a monstrous 250-350cm (8.5-12ft).

Like many other hybrids that have been stabilized over the years, Moby Dick is a great strain for growers of any level of experience, including total newbies. It’s very hard to shock, let alone kill the plants with rookie mistakes. However, we suggest reading up on canopy management, as this will help you achieve bumper yields.
