White Widow Strain Info

White Widow is one of the best-known cannabis strains available today, featured in every Dutch coffee shop since the 1990s. Although there are a few stories about this strain's history, Arjan, the owner of Green House Seeds, claims to have gotten the strain in 1992 straight from Ingemar De Sjamaan, a Dutch breeder, who himself founded the strain in the late 1980s.

Genetics

A mixture of Brazilian and South Indian lineage, this is a potent 60% Indica strain that has been a breeding block for numerous crosses and hybrids over the last few decades.

Flowering Time

This strain has a short flowering time of only 8 weeks, so it won’t be a long time commitment! Outdoor, growers can expect to harvest by the end of September.

Yields

Prepare for a mega harvest, producing yields that go up to 800g/m² (2.6oz/ft2) indoors or up to 900g (31oz) per plant outdoors.

Effects

White Widow brings strong and fast-hitting effects with bursts of euphoria, offering noticeable waves of energy to carry you through a busy day while still leaving you relaxed. The perfect stress-buster for people on the go, enjoy this strain at any time of day or during those late nights at your keyboard.

THC and CBD Levels

Enjoy comfortably high THC content reaching 19% and only trace levels of CBD that won’t affect the extra-potent effects.

Smell and Taste

Its terpene profile isn’t among the strongest or most pungent, but the strain still stands out in its own way with a sharp ammonia-like scent. This is eased harmoniously by hints of pine and earth, leaving an incense-like undertone that you’ll remember.

Grow Tips

What will get any grower's eyes popping is her white frosted appearance nearing harvest time, making for some of the glossiest trichome-covered buds in the cannabis world to date. With harvest time on the horizon, plants will reach heights between 110-150cm (43-60”).

This strain prefers mild and temperate climates outdoors, but thanks to its good resistance to mold and mildew, it can also handle harsher climates, humid greenhouses, and indoor growing as well. For optimal results, keep the following grow info in mind:

  • This strain will thrive in a hydroponic or aeroponic setup if this is possible for you.
  • It’s very pungent when combusted but shouldn’t be much of a problem when flowering. However, if her scent is too strong for you, install a carbon filter to remove the smell.
  • Being Indica-dominant, these plants grow bushy and wide, so try to ensure adequate space between plants for better airflow.

      I've been smoking for almost 3 years now and have been gradually branching out to more and more strains, & gotta say this one is one of favourites so far. It may sound strange, but this strain simply makes me feel so NORMAL, like myself, but better, and with more energy. I don't feel necessarily "stoned" either, like I said; it's you, but better. This is a great day time smoke, no question, and I could picture using this to start your day on the right foot.

      Growing this plant was a real treat! I started with know-how from my grand-dad!! It grows like a champ! So cool. I love this strain. This plant was harvested last month and dried and cured. OMG! :) Overall calm and happy, peaceful easy feeling with the ever present "hey let's go do something!" Maybe that's just me high. :p I noticed a complete absence of cough. Really smooth, almost "aerosol" smoke. And it opens the airways nicely. probably good for colds. Slighty warming sensation all over but my nose is cold! HAHA!! really deepens the lungs! I'm taking big deep breaths now, where with strains like Diesel, and the Kush's I'm coughing. Love this strain!

      White Widow is a great strain to grow and smoke
    • Disadvantages
      The only downside of this might be the earthy taste, I enjoy more the sweet taste what most sativa's have.
    • General impressions

      What can I say if this is my go to strain? It's a perfect mixture of indica and sativa that makes you enjoy the unexplored world of your dreams after a couple of big bong rips with a slightly body high.

      Great strain, easy to clone, takes fertilizers in easily. There’s a smell during the flowering but it’s quite pleasant. The effect is wild strong, I could barely move but my head was clear and my brain was working swiftly. So it’s a strong A from me both to the strain and to the shop.

      My buddies were completely lost after having some of it! Fist-sized buds, plenty of crystals! One thing, the branches were kinda weak so they needed some support. Might have been calcium deficiency

      fragrant quality buds;
    • Disadvantages
      prone to getting moldy;
      strong smell;
    • General impressions

      WW grows pretty slow and you can prolong the flowering to 9-10 weeks. This way you’ll get bigger yields but the effect will differ from the 8 weeks old buds. The growth is controllable, smells a lot when in flower and starting from week 4 mold might attack it because the buds are so dense. Quality effects, tasty buds!

      5/5 germinated! Woohoo I guess i’m good at it!
      Now straight to serious biz, these plants are wide and leafy hence perfect for SOG! Actually if you don’t apply SOG method then you’ll need some extra light to get all of the plant well lit. Likes to have extra phosphorus in its diet! I noticed some leaves were dying and I fixed that with phosphorus. Next time I’ll add it to the soil before planting

    • Advantages
      great resin production
    • Disadvantages
      no
    • General impressions

      If at the very end of the flowering you freeze the plant it’s gonna try to protect its buds by producing more resin so the buds don’t freeze! And resin is what we need! Even famous growers advise to put the plant at least in the shadow at the end of flowering, just to make it taste better and get some extra resin.

    • General impressions

      Planted the seed back in April. Even though the spot was kinda shadowy it grew up to be a huge 185 tree that’s so easy to notice! The growth doesn’t seem to be slowing down so I expect it to be 190 soon even though initially I was only expecting 120-140, as stated by the producer btw. I didn’t use any store bought nutrients, only chicken manure! It started flowering not that long ago, I will harvest it around October and will probably update you on the yield

      The best strain! My favorite and a real legend! Seasoned growers agree that this is the best Widow! Some people say there are better ones, but I've tried them all, Dutch Passion, Nirvana, Sweet Seeds… I know for sure because I've seen people try it! They’re leaking from everywhere eyes, mouth and nose!

    15 April 2019
    • Advantages
      Doesn’t require much and grows well. For extra feeding I only used nitrates once and then 3 more times of Hesi fertilizer. Since germination the root is thick and strong, all three seeds germinated btw. The seed bank’s descriptions are all true.
    • Disadvantages
      Strong stone after 40 mins. Smoke a little too much and you’re couch-locked, you feel heavy as if your body was made of stone. Late flowering when grown outdoors, buds don’t have time to fully develop. I planted it in may, the flowering started in October and I harvested it after the first freezing nights.
    • General impressions

      I’d recommend it for beginners, it won’t get taller than 1,5 so it’s possible to hide it. Also perfect for indoors I think. Curing is necessary if you want to get diverse effects
