You probably won’t see any law that ends up printed on a seed pack. Section 781 is an exception.

Right now, Section 781 may sound like just another faceless number from some case or bill. However, this section directly affects the cannabis market in the U.S.

The most significant change is what can be considered hemp in the U.S. market after this law takes effect, and what now falls under the category of cannabis products, including seeds.

It’s important to clarify that Herbies isn’t fighting the law – we simply consider this event significant enough for the cannabis market to warrant highlighting it. That’s why, together with Blimburn, we decided to mark this moment with a separate collection.

What Is Section 781, Exactly?

Section 781 is a provision of U.S. federal law that changes the definition of hemp. The main guideline used to be a 0.3% limit on the delta-9 THC content in a cannabis product. Now, the total THC content, including THCA, is taken into account in Section 781.

This is critically important for the cannabis seed market – we sell viable cannabis seeds from plants with more than 0.3% total THC, including THCA, and they may no longer fall under the federal definition of hemp. Also, you should keep in mind the law’s effective date. In September, it was postponed, now being December 11, 2026 – a key date for most provisions, including those related to seeds.

Meet the Section 781 Collection

Section 781 is a collaboration between Herbies and Blimburn aimed at preserving genetic heritage – and doing so in style. The collection is built around a single shared genetic line: Bruce Banner.

Why this particular strain? Well, we decided to play around a bit with potency, because growers surely know just how powerful these seeds are. And yes, the strain’s name is direct proof of that.
