Chocolate Thai
Description
Chocolate Thai Strain Info
Chocolate Thai originates from Thailand and dates back to the '70s. This strain got its name for its chocolatey flavor profile and dark brown buds, which resemble large chocolate chips and can liven up any activity with their euphoric effects. As a Sativa-dominant hybrid, it thrives in warm outdoor climates but might take a while to complete its flowering cycle.
Genetics
This strain comes as a crossbreed of two Thai genetics – OG Chocolate Thai F2 and OG Chocolate Thai F3 – and a male version of Big Sur Holy Weed, itself a combination of Zacatecas Purple (a Mexican Sativa landrace) and Mazar-i-Sharif (a pure Afghani landrace).
Flowering Time
Despite being Sativa-dominant, Chocolate Thai has a fairly short indoor flowering period of just 63 days. However, in outdoor gardens, growers have to wait until late October to harvest their crops.
Yields
Chocolate Thai seeds grow into highly productive plants that produce massive and frosty flowers with very satisfying yields. Indoors, this hybrid can bring 500-600 g/m² (1.6-1.9 oz/ft²), while one outdoor-grown plant can yield up to an astounding 2.2 lb (1000 g).
Effects
Chocolate Thai has a reasonably predictable set of effects influenced by its Sativa genetics. When smoked, it delivers a mostly cerebral feeling of euphoria that’s guaranteed to boost your energy levels through the roof. Nonetheless, its uplifting effects are balanced by pleasant body-soothing properties.
Medical Properties
Chocolate Thai’s potency has been recognized by the medical cannabis community. This weed manages to mow down stress levels and anxiety, while also being helpful in treating mood swings, depression, and PTSD.
THC and CBD Levels
By combining Thai and Mexican genetics, we’ve created a hybrid with reasonably high THC levels that’s not for the faint-hearted. Chocolate Thai can contain anywhere between 21-23% THC, while its CBD levels are insignificant.
Smell and Taste
The strain’s exotic terpene profile is a true delight for all of your senses. On the first puff, you’ll feel an explosion of sweet and citrusy flavors, while on the exhale, the smoke will fill the room with exquisite tropical aromas.
Grow Tips
Chocolate Thai isn’t the most ideal choice for newbies – it needs regular care and maintenance. When grown outdoors, these plants prefer warm climates like that of Thailand. Depending on the growing conditions, they can reach up to 4 feet (120 cm) in height, which isn’t that tall for a Sativa.
- These plants are heavy feeders and require a nutrient-rich environment.
- This strain responds well to ScrOG, which will ramp up bud production in the lower parts of the plant.
- For indoor grows, it’s best to use 600W HPS lamps.
