Wedding Cake Auto Grow Diary and Strain Review

This diary covers my run with Wedding Cake Auto from Barney's Farm. I grew 2 plants indoors and kept the setup pretty straightforward, with the main focus on stable conditions and a clean feeding routine.

Germination started in small peat tablets. I soaked them with 1l (0.3gal) of water mixed with 1ml (0.03fl oz) of Voodoo Juice, then kept the mini greenhouse around 25°C (77°F) and 80% humidity. Once the seeds had popped, they were moved into 12.5l (3.3gal) pots filled with 75% coco and 25% perlite.

Starting the Run

Week 1

The first week went without any real problems. The plants reached 7cm (2.8in), and I kept the light schedule at 20/4. Temperature sat around 23°C (73.4°F), which seemed comfortable enough for the young seedlings.

I started with a light nutrient push rather than waiting too long. The mix included 2ml (0.07fl oz) of Voodoo Juice, 2ml (0.07fl oz) of B-52, and 1ml (0.03fl oz) of pH Perfect Sensi Coco Grow A. The idea was to help the roots and stems get moving early, and visually the plants seemed to respond well.

Week 2

By week 2, both Wedding Cake Auto plants were at 13cm (5.1in). The 20/4 schedule stayed the same, and the general shape of the bushes was starting to appear.

I raised pH Perfect Sensi Coco Grow A to 2ml (0.07fl oz). The plants looked stronger after that, with better upward growth and no obvious stress signs. It still felt early, but the structure was already moving in the right direction.

Week 3

Growth kept a good pace, and the plants reached 19cm (7.5in). I kept the same 20/4 rhythm and adjusted the feed to a richer mix.

This week, the solution included 4ml/l (0.5fl oz/gal) of pH Perfect Sensi Coco Grow A, 2ml/l (0.3fl oz/gal) of B-52, and 4ml/l (0.5fl oz/gal) of pH Perfect Sensi Coco Grow. The plants handled it cleanly. I didn’t see deficiency marks, and the leaves had the kind of steady look that makes you leave the room without worrying too much.

Veg Progress and Training

Week 4

By the end of week 4, the plants were up to 33cm (13in). They were still on 20/4 and had started to look much more solid through the stems.

I kept using pH Perfect Sensi Coco Grow A and B-52, mostly to support root development and general structure. This was also when I began removing extra leaves more actively. The canopy was filling in, so a bit of defoliation helped air move through the branches and opened the middle to more light.

Week 5

Flowering became easy to see in week 5. The plants reached 60cm (23.6in), and my attention shifted from simple vegetative growth to the forming bud sites.

I trimmed larger lower leaves to improve airflow and light penetration. Feeding included 2ml (0.07fl oz) of Voodoo Juice, 2ml (0.07fl oz) of Bud Candy, and continued pH Perfect Sensi Coco Grow A. The change into flower felt smooth, and the first proper clusters started to look more defined.

Week 6

Week 6 brought the plants to 75cm (29.5in), still under 20/4. The total nutrient dose was 18ml/l (2.4fl oz/gal), and the feeding plan moved more clearly toward bloom.

I used pH Perfect Sensi Coco Bloom A at 4ml (0.1fl oz), plus 2ml (0.07fl oz) each of Voodoo Juice and Bud Candy. Trichomes started developing more noticeably, and the buds began to tighten up. Temperature and humidity were in a good enough range, so I didn’t feel the need to make big corrections.

The Flip and Early Flower

Week 7

The plants reached 100cm (39.4in) in week 7, and flowering picked up speed. I added Bud Factor X to help with resin and trichome development.

More bud sites appeared, and the existing flowers were slowly getting larger. I kept defoliating in small steps instead of stripping too much at once. The goal was simple: more light where it mattered and less stale air trapped inside the canopy.

Week 8

By week 8, the plants were around 105cm (41.3in). Vertical growth had slowed, which was exactly what I wanted to see at this point.

I kept using Bud Candy and Bud Factor X in steady doses. The flowers were gaining mass, and the room felt close to the final part of the run. I also kept watching the climate, since small swings in temperature and humidity had already been something to manage in this grow.

Week 9

At week 9, the height stayed at 105cm (41.3in), so stretch was done. The formed buds continued to swell, and the plants looked close to finishing.

I started preparing for the final stage with Flawless Finish. I’d used it before and liked the result, so I brought it in here as well. The plan was to help clear the plants before harvest and keep the final taste as clean as possible.

Late Flower and Finish

Week 10

On day 69, the plants were clearly reaching the end of flowering. Height was still 105cm (41.3in), and most of the buds had become large enough to feel properly finished.

The smell got stronger this week. Older leaves started fading, but the buds kept maturing without any real delay. Flawless Finish stayed in the routine during these last days, and the plants seemed to take the final stretch calmly despite the small climate issues I had dealt with earlier.

Wedding Cake Auto Yield and Final Thoughts

The harvest from the 2 plants came in at 480g (16.9oz) wet and 302g (10.7oz) dry. Considering the few small mistakes and the climate swings, I was happy with that result.

The buds looked good after the run and had a clear aroma by the end. The effects also matched what I expected from Wedding Cake Auto: relaxing, with enough quality in the finished product to make the work feel worthwhile.

My main impression is that this strain wasn’t especially difficult to manage. It still needed attention, especially around temperature and humidity, but it didn’t punish every small mistake. For an auto, Wedding Cake Auto gave me a solid harvest and a clean finish from a fairly simple indoor setup.
