Acapulco Gold Strain Info

The Acapulco Gold classic strain is a 30% Indica / 70% Sativa hybrid whose exact genetics are unknown. What’s sure is that it has been backcrossed and stabilized by Barney's Farm through rigorous selection and breeding to create an exquisite-tasting and beloved landrace.

This strain produces a mellow yet euphoric high that induces a sense of creativity, happiness, and relaxation. Like other Sativas, it can elevate your mood and give a much-needed energy boost. The Acapulco Gold feminized strain from Barney's Farm won first place for Best Sativa at the High Times Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam in 2010.

THC Level

The most prominent characteristic of Acapulco Gold is its rather high THC content – one of the most common traits that today’s cultivators are looking for. Even though other strains may be more powerful, you can't deny the potent effects that capture the essence of Acapulco Gold. This strain typically tests at as much as 21% THC, with CBD and CBN levels of 0.7% and 1% respectively.

Effects

Happy
Euphoric
Energetic

The powerful effects of Acapulco Gold will make you crave more and more of it as euphoria settles in. This bud also does wonders in providing relief for those suffering from stress, anxiety, chronic pain, and PTSD. It might be too strong for some users, though, so take it low and slow before going overboard with this one – remember that feeling relaxed doesn't always mean being intoxicated to the point where your muscles tense up!

Terpene Profile

Wood
Fruity
Earth

The terpenes in the Acapulco Gold weed strain are as lively and vibrant as its home country of Mexico. The dominant terpenes include caryophyllene, limonene, and myrcene. They all give this strain its sweet, earthy taste that coats the tongue with traces of rich coffee and a woodsy scent.
Acapulco Gold tastes natural from the first puff to the last. With each drag, you'll taste a hint of earthy and pine flavors before ending with an uplifting citrus zest for a smooth, sweet finish.

Growing Acapulco Gold Cannabis Seeds

As a typical Sativa-type marijuana plant, Acapulco Gold strain seeds are usually grown outdoors or in greenhouses. This strain thrives best in warmer climates and sunny conditions. A bit of training will keep it looking neat and tidy indoors with consistent temperature management.

The plants normally reach 3'11 (120 cm) in height but can grow as tall as 6'5 (200 cm) if given the right amount of space while flowering. The buds are long and fat, with orange, red, and gold pistils accompanied by an abundance of crystals.

Flowering Time

The Acapulco Gold marijuana strain has a flowering time of 9-10 weeks when grown indoors. In outdoor grows, you can expect to harvest it by mid-October. This timing depends on the region and climate in which it is cultivated. Outdoor grows usually follow the natural light cycle, with the plants entering the flowering stage as the days become shorter towards the end of summer.

Yields

With Acapulco Gold seeds, you’ll have plants that are highly productive both indoors and outdoors. Indoor yields reach 700 g/m² (2,6 oz/ft²) or 1500 g (3.3 pounds) per plant. Outdoors, Acapulco Gold produces 1500 g (3.3 pounds) per plant.

Yo, let me tell ya, growing this strain was like hitting the jackpot! The plant was hella nice to nurture and damn, did it bless me with a fat yield! Picture this: solid buds all over, top to bottom, like little green soldiers ready for battle. After a dope defoliation sesh, we left some sugar leaves on for the dry down. Ended up bagging a hefty 510g of primo bud! Growing it was a blast, and sparking up the fruits of my labor? Pure bliss, man. The aroma's a whole vibe - think citrus mixed with sweet notes and a hint of pine. And the high? Bro, it's like rocket fuel for your soul - energetic AF!
    • Disadvantages
Only downside? Dry red eyes, but hey, small price to pay for such dank buds, am I right?
    • General impressions

I'm telling ya, this strain is the real deal. Highly recommended, no doubt about it.

The scent is citrusy, sweet, and piney. The effect is very high and energetic.
    • Disadvantages
      Dry red eyes

Now for the serious information, this strain is excellent and cannot disappoint you. It grows steadily at the beginning and explodes at flowering time. Responds very well to topping and lst and takes nutrients well. I decided to take this cycle with 1/4 of the recommended doses mainly and only up to half and I think I was spot on. I got a mix of mostly cloudy trichomes and some amber, which is fine for me. The smell is very good, a mix of pine, sweet and citrus aromas. Now if you go for it, you have to be careful to control the height, the nut doses (especially N) and have a lot of patience because it is a slow finisher. Overall, highly recommended. Bud reports will come when they are dried and cured. 😁

    • General impressions

A very nice plant to grow, I've now produced a good yield of this strain for drying and curing. The plant's growth consisted of nice solid buds from top to bottom. We then defoliated and saved some sugar leaves for the curing process. It turned out to be 200g of solid buds, fun to grow and smoking the fruits of my labor.
