Persian Pie Grow Diary and Strain Review

Last updated: 9 June 2026

Grow diary hero

This run was my first try with Persian Pie from Green House Seeds. I bought two packs because the strain had been on my list for a while, mostly because of those pink-red colors in the photos and the promise of a banana-heavy aroma.

The main space was a HOMEbox Ambient Q120, 120 x 120 x 200cm (3.9 x 3.9 x 6.6ft), with two SANlight EVO 5-120 lamps. I started 10 seeds, then kept 6 plants for the full run so each one had enough room under the ScrOG.

Starting the Run

Grow Notes

I germinated the seeds the way I usually do it: first a soak in bottled water for 14-16h, then into lightly moistened cotton pads. The pads went into small plastic bags with a bit of air exchange, and the first roots normally show in 24-48h with this method.

All 10 Persian Pie seeds cracked and were moved into 3l (0.8gal) flower pots. The pots had already been watered with 500ml (16.9fl oz) of clean water, and the soil mix had enough food for the first part of veg, so I didn’t add nutrients right away.

Week 1

The first week was quiet, which is exactly what I wanted. Only one lamp was running at 40% power, hanging 35cm (13.8in) above the seedlings, so the light was soft enough for young plants.

Day temperature stayed around 26°C (78.8°F), with nights between 22-25°C (71.6-77°F). Humidity was about 55%. On day 5, I turned on the fans at low power to give the stems a little movement without drying the leaves too much.

On the eighth day after the first watering, each plant got another 400ml (13.5fl oz) of water. By the end of the week, the seedlings were around 5-6cm (2-2.4in) tall and looked lively enough.

Week 2

The seedlings firmed up during the second week. I switched on the second lamp, and both lights ran at 40%, which gave much better coverage across the box.

There was still no feeding. The top layer of soil dried enough for a planned watering near the end of the week, but the mix itself was still carrying the young plants. Out of the 10 seedlings, 2 were a bit slower, though they still looked healthy.

Veg Progress and Training

Week 3

By week 3, the plants were ready for a more serious routine. One small issue showed up on the old pots: green growth on the surface, probably algae or moss from spraying the top layer too often.

I removed about 2cm (0.8in) of the top soil and replaced it with fresh mix. After that, I stopped spraying the surface by hand and used the humidifier to control air moisture instead.

On day 17, the plants got their first light feeding with CANNA Terra Vega at 2.5ml/l. Two days later, I topped them. They handled it calmly, and new side growth started pushing out from the upper nodes soon after.

Week 4

The 6 selected plants recovered well from topping and started turning that feed into proper green mass. I installed the ScrOG net and began spreading the branches through it.

I also did the first real defoliation. Nothing too brutal, just enough to open the middle and help the young branches get light. By this point the plants were looking settled, and the run finally felt like it had found its rhythm.

Week 5

Persian Pie filled the net better than I expected this week. The bushes were strong and fairly even, and by the end of the week they were around 40cm (15.7in) tall.

I kept shaping the canopy under the ScrOG. Compared with regular LST, this felt cleaner for this setup. On day 31, I did a heavier defoliation, then fed Terra Vega again at 5ml/l. The plants looked open for about a day and then immediately started filling back in with new green growth.

The Flip and Early Flower

Week 6

After switching to a shorter light schedule, the plants moved into stretch almost right away. The stems shot upward, and I spent a lot of time tucking them back under the net.

There were a couple of small things to watch. I damaged one top a little while training, and tiny mushrooms appeared in one pot. They looked like harmless saprophytes, but it still told me the soil was staying quite moist.

By day 38, the first ScrOG was nearly full, so I removed it and installed a second net. That gave the canopy better support for flower and helped keep the plants from tangling into each other. I also added a dehumidifier because the humidity was creeping higher than I liked.

Week 7

This was the wild stretch week. The plants went from about 40cm (15.7in) to 80cm (31.5in), and the net filled up completely. Every branch seemed to be racing for the lamps.

On day 44, the first pistils and young bud sites appeared, so I counted that as the official start of flowering. During the week, I raised light power from 40% to 100%. On day 46, I did the final big defoliation and switched the feed to CANNA Terra Flores at 3.5ml/l.

By day 48, the stretch still hadn’t really stopped. I was starting to worry about the distance to the lamps, but the plants themselves looked healthy.

Week 8

Week 8 was finally calmer. The plants slowed down hard and added only about 10cm (3.9in) over the week.

I mostly watered and left them alone. I did one small cleanup and took off about a bag of leaves from the whole box, but there was no need for another heavy intervention.

Late Flower and Finish

Week 9

The plants looked great going into proper flower. The leaves were smooth, the color stayed rich, and I didn’t see signs of stress or obvious deficiency.

Bud formation became more serious this week, especially after cleaning the lower growth. I did lollipopping so the plants could put more energy into the top sites, and the canopy looked much more manageable afterward.

Week 10

The flowers were setting nicely, but I still wanted them bigger at this point. The resin was already impressive, though, and the buds were starting to show why I picked this strain in the first place.

Watering volume was 2.5l (0.7gal) per plant. I kept the routine steady instead of chasing every small change, because the plants looked healthy and the room was finally under control.

Week 13

I missed a few weekly updates because I got knocked down by the flu, but the plants kept moving in the right direction. By the time I was properly back in the room, Persian Pie had turned into the colorful plant I had hoped for.

The leaves and flowers had picked up bright purple-pink shades, and the smell in the box was very strong. It leaned toward fruit candy, and working around the plants became a pleasure by itself.

A couple of upper tips were slightly burned, but the rest looked good. The buds were dense, shiny with resin, and already on the flush before harvest weekend.

Persian Pie Yield and Final Thoughts

The final wet weight after trimming was about 490g (17.3oz) of wet, already cleaned buds. For a first run with this genetics, I was happy with both the amount and the resin coverage.

Drying took 10 days at 23°C (73.4°F) and around 53% humidity. The buds dried evenly and kept their color well, which mattered to me because the look was one of the reasons I wanted to grow Persian Pie.

The aroma after drying was rich and stayed in the air for a long time. Some plants leaned more into sweet fruit candy, while others had a creamier spicy side with a little citrus freshness. The taste followed the same broad profile instead of being one-note.

The effect was strong but flexible. It didn’t throw me into wild euphoria, and it didn’t flatten me with a heavy stone either. I could use it at different times of day by adjusting the amount, which made the harvest even more useful than I expected.

I’m more than satisfied with this grow. Persian Pie gave me the color I wanted, the aroma was better than I hoped, and the flowers looked good enough that I’d happily run this strain again.
