Pineapple Express Auto Grow Diary and Strain Review

Last updated: 9 June 2026

Grow diary hero

This was my first proper attempt at growing, so I picked Pineapple Express Auto fem from Fast Buds partly because a friend handed me the seed and said I’d like the result. Since it was an autoflower, I hoped it would be forgiving enough while I figured things out.

The grow was done outdoors in soil, with the plant sitting in a 30l (7.9gal) pot from the start. I tried not to overcomplicate the run, mostly watching the plant, watering carefully, and using the nutrients my friend gave me.

Starting the Run

Germination and First Growth

I started by germinating the seed between two damp kitchen sponges and leaving it in a dark place. That simple method worked fast. In less than a day, the shell had opened and the root was ready to go into the soil.

I made a small hole, placed the seed root-down, and lightly moistened the area around it. The seedling came up cleanly, and during the first week it produced its first two pairs of leaves. I began giving small amounts of Bio-Grow and Power Roots early on, but I was cautious with everything.

The young plant looked tiny in that 30l (7.9gal) pot. After about 10 days, it still wasn’t moving quickly, but it looked healthy enough. I didn’t see disease or obvious stress, so I kept watering lightly with nutrients and tried not to drown it.

Veg Progress and Training

Slow Veg and Early Doubts

Veg was not explosive. The plant stayed modest for a while, and I spent more time worrying than actually doing anything useful. Most of my work at this stage was simple watering and removing a few leaves when they were clearly no longer helping.

Six weeks after planting, the bush was still on the smaller side. Some leaves had yellow spots, and a few larger fans were drying out. I think I may have been too nervous with watering and kept the plant a little too dry, but it still looked generally alive and the stem had become thick enough to make me feel better about the run.

I didn’t do any real training. No complicated shaping, no heavy pruning. For a first grow, I mostly wanted to get the plant to harvest without ruining it.

Early Flower

Stretch and First Pistils

Once the plant started flowering, it changed faster than I expected. In about a week, it nearly doubled in size, white pistils appeared, and the first bud sites became easy to see. That sudden stretch surprised me, especially after such a slow start.

As soon as flowering was obvious, I changed the feeding. The mix included Top Max at 1ml/l, Green Se at 2ml/l, and Bio Bloom at 1ml/l. I also raised the watering volume to about 1.5l (50.7fl oz) per day because the plant was finally drinking more.

This was the point where the grow became more exciting. The structure started making sense, and the plant no longer looked like a small seedling lost in a huge pot.

Late Flower and Finish

Color, Smell, and Ripening

Late flower was the part I enjoyed most. I had no idea cannabis could turn such a strong purple color. The mix of purple flowers, green parts, and yellowing leaves looked better than I expected from my first attempt.

The smell became much stronger around this time too. It was rich and hard to describe, not just a plain herbal smell. A more experienced grower told me the purple color was probably linked to cooler nights, and that made sense because the last couple of weeks outdoors had dropped to around 14-16°C (57.2-60.8°F) after sunset.

In the final week before harvest, I flushed the plant on a friend’s recommendation. By then, there wasn’t much green left apart from the stem and some parts of the buds. The flowers were very oily, not rock-hard, and seriously aromatic.

Pineapple Express Auto fem Yield and Final Thoughts

Harvest came 14 weeks after I planted the seed in the pot. I was honestly just happy I hadn’t killed the plant. I cut the buds carefully and then trimmed off the leaves, keeping them separately.

The fresh harvest weighed 240g (8.5oz). After almost two weeks of drying, I ended up with 50g (1.8oz) of dry buds. For a first grow, that felt like a real result, even if I’m sure a more experienced grower could have pulled more from the same seed.

I sampled it right after harvest because I couldn’t resist. The taste was pleasant, with a fragrant herbal base and sour-sweet exotic notes. The aftertaste was slightly sweet and fresh, without being bitter or too sugary.

The effect was strong and lasted around four hours for me. It relaxed my whole body and could even make me sleepy, but it didn’t feel heavy in a bad way. More than anything, it gave a deep positive calm and made me quieter than usual.

My final feeling about Pineapple Express Auto fem is simple: I’m proud of the purple little bush I managed to finish. I didn’t do anything advanced, and I probably made mistakes, but the plant still gave me good-looking buds with a nice flavor and a powerful relaxing effect.
