Purple Juice Auto Grow Diary and Strain Review

This run with Purple Juice Auto from Herbies Seeds started a little differently from my usual strain choices. I normally grow one plant at a time, so I’m picky about genetics and don’t like gambling on something unknown. This time, a friend kept praising Herbies Seeds, and I decided to give the breeder a real test.
The plant was grown hydroponically in a DWC setup. I started with a 33l (8.7gal) bucket and kept the room under 185W of LED lighting in total. The plant turned out much stretchier than I expected from an indica-leaning auto, so the run became more about height control than I had planned.

Starting the Run
Week 1-3
The first part of the grow was mostly about getting the DWC system stable and letting Purple Juice Auto settle in. The bucket held 33l (8.7gal), the light schedule was 22/2, and the grow room was running warm at around 31°C (87.8°F).
Even early on, the plant looked energetic. I expected a compact Indica-style structure, but it clearly had other plans. Since it didn’t look weak or unhappy, I let it build momentum instead of trying to slow it down too soon.
Veg Progress and Training
Week 4
By week 4, the structure was strong enough for topping. I decided to cut the main growth point and give the plant a chance to branch out instead of pushing straight upward.
That was the first serious training move of the run. I didn’t want to overwork the plant, but it was already clear that some kind of control would be needed if I wanted to keep it manageable later.
Week 5
The room became easier to handle this week. Temperature dropped closer to 28°C (82.4°F), humidity was around 65%, and pH stayed near 5.8.
Purple Juice Auto kept developing without any obvious setback after topping. The growth stayed active, and the plant looked ready to move into the next stage soon.
Week 6
This was the week when I really understood how much this plant wanted to stretch. Purple Juice Auto had reached 93cm (36.6in), which felt funny for a strain that was supposed to be mostly Indica.
I helped the stretch rather than fighting it. The 140W light was running 22 hours a day, while the extra 45W stayed on around the clock. The plant had already moved into preflower, with plenty of side shoots forming, so I started preparing for a solution change in the tank.
Week 7
By week 7, height had jumped to about 140cm (55.1in). That was more than I wanted, but the plant still looked vigorous rather than stressed.
I did a defoliation to open the structure and make the canopy easier to handle. There were enough branches that airflow and light penetration started to matter more than keeping every leaf just because it looked healthy.
Week 8
The plant reached around 145cm (57.1in), and the system was now running with a 10l (2.6gal) volume at about pH 6. The stretch finally looked close to finished.
By this point, Purple Juice Auto had become a tall plant with a lot of flowering sites. It wasn’t the compact auto I imagined at the start, but the structure had potential if the flowers filled in properly.
The Flip and Early Flower
Week 9
The light schedule was set to 13/14, and the plant was now clearly focused on flowering. The early bud formation was visible across the branches, though the size still needed time.
I kept the routine steady instead of adding new stress. After the strong stretch and the defoliation work, the best move was to let the plant settle into flower.
Week 10
The same 13/14 schedule continued through week 10. Buds were developing more clearly now, and the plant was no longer trying to gain much height.
At this stage, the grow felt less like a battle with stretch and more like a waiting game. The structure was already set, so I mostly watched how the flowers were filling the space.
Late Flower and Finish
Week 11
The final week was about letting Purple Juice Auto finish without unnecessary corrections. After the earlier height issue, I didn’t want to create a last-minute problem by changing too much.
The flowers finished with a pleasant aroma that leaned sweet and berry-like, with a sour edge in the background. For a plant that stretched so hard, the final canopy still came together better than I expected.
Purple Juice Auto Yield and Final Thoughts
The final dry yield was 293g (10.3oz). For one plant, that was a result I could be very happy with, especially considering that I went into this run mostly wanting to test whether Herbies Seeds was worth trusting.
The taste and aroma turned out to be one of the stronger sides of Purple Juice Auto. It was pleasant without being too sharp, sweet without getting flat, and there was a mild sour note that made the profile more interesting.
The effect felt better suited for evening use. It relaxed hard, and with too much, it could almost switch me off. With low tolerance, this is not the kind of smoke I’d plan much activity after. For me, Purple Juice Auto earned a place among the strains I’d grow again.
