Californian Orange: Best Old School Marihuana From Dutch Passion

Californian Orange is a 50% Sativa-50% Indica hybrid with its heritage partly shrouded in mystery. The breeders at Dutch Passion chose not to reveal Californian Orange’s parents, but this fabulous hybrid is endowed with the best orange savor on the market. With its energizing and uplifting effects, it is qualified as a social cannabis strain ideal for daytime.

Energetic

Growing Californian Orange is an easy job. Thriving indoor and in greenhouses, this strain is suitable for the outdoors environment as well. The low difficulty of the growing process also comes from the attributes inherited from the Sativa and Indica genes, providing her with enough resistance for a satisfactory development. Because of the medium height of the scheme, it adapts well to indoor environments, yielding around 400 g/m2. The blooming phase takes 9 weeks and, if grown outdoors, harvest time should be scheduled by the end of October. The terpenes levels are high and able to surround us with a strong orange smell.

  • Grow difficulty: Medium. Prefers hot and mild climates.
  • Lights: Led 300 W Vegetation/HID 400 W Flowering.
  • Pot size: >12 L for optimized yield.
  • Climate: Hot/Mild.
  • Fertilization: Average fertilization with pH control.
  • THC levels: 22-26%.

The Finest Orange Taste From Californian Genetics

Californian Orange smells and tastes like a freshly peeled orange. Its citrus flavor is strong and able to satisfy the demands of connoisseur palates. It makes a euphoric, uplifting and sociable high, reminiscent of the Sativas old-school. Well-suited for the day time, it transports the mind to a euphoric state with no trace of a couchlock effect.

Variety showed average yielding capacity, the effect also didn’t impress me much. But rich orange taste, really pleasant, makes it a real deal

Despite this being a hybrid of indica and sativa, it grows rather tall. Develops like pure sativa. My plant grew up to 3 m

    • Advantages
Taste and aroma are the main features of this strain. Very clear. Bravo to Dutch for terpenes profile genetics
    • Disadvantages
      I’d say no
    • General impressions

Photo is a photo. Not overly yielding, not overly potent. Gets stressed as all of them, requires care and attention. But for this aroma I can forgive everything. Smells like orange peel with pepper and cinnamon

    • Advantages
Productive, resistant, tasty with great effect
    • Disadvantages
      Prone to mold
    • General impressions

Risked growing the plant in the greenhouse and it grew in height up to the ceiling and bumped into it. And around the spot where the plant touched glass mold appeared after all. So I can't say it’s resistant to mold. But considering the spoiled buds, I still got 500 g total and 150 dry product. Rather decent potency

Fast shipping. 100% germination. 3 lush bushes, when closer to finish they turned into oranges themselves. Orange hairs, yellow-orange leaves. The aroma was out of this world. It’s hard to describe it but the smell of fresh oranges was quite distinct. Buds are okay in potency, but the high is more indica. From my experience, however, such an effect caused by all fruit, berry and citrus genetics, like Blackberry or Blueberry. Californian Orange is no exception. Grow wasn’t tough. Maintained conditions for indica, monitored humidity. Had a lot of foliage, thinned out a little about 4 times. Grew in 12 l bags, 3 plants. They were not too tall in height, less than a meter. Used organics as I don’t use anything else, I prefer fully organic product with no salts in buds. The effect is nice, relaxing as I’ve mentioned earlier. Would unlikely be possible to stay active but would be nice to have a talk or laugh around in a group of friends. Easy. But if there already is some physical fatigue, you can go straight to bed after half an hour - it’ll relax you and you get some sleep

Easy 100 g from plant. Balanced effect. Fast 9 week flowering
    • Disadvantages
      No

Perfect for indoor growing and scrog. Colas are rich like oranges. Optimal combination of indica and sativa taking the best from both two, ensuring good yields, resilience, flowering speed and a balanced, no sleepy or mind-numbing effect. I liked it. Pleasant aroma with distinct citrus notes - its advantage, not many strains are that tasty

Unique and delicious. Not difficult to grow
    • General impressions

Amazing, very orange strain. Not big, not the most generous, not the most potent. But a great option for indoors. No harsh smell and the buds are cool after curing. Prefer vaporizer to enjoy all the qualities to the fullest. Trip is more like high, kicks in not too hard, cases no nausea, headache or anxiety. Motivating, helps generate ideas and makes you smile :)

      Great taste and the effect!
    • Disadvantages
      Modest yields
    • General impressions

You feel like you are a kid again - you see the world big and bright. An itch to go for a long walk with no plans appeared and pouring rain didn’t seem as an obstacle. Communication didn’t feel necessary. Had no will to bother anyone, just to walk and enjoy the views and landscapes. In short, a tasty antistress

    • Advantages
Vivid, social effect. Relieves headache. In general, not hard to grow
    • Disadvantages
Prone to stress, yet recovers well. Good recovery can actually be added to the advantages
    • General impressions

Cool, positive strain in many aspects. Wouldn’t say it doesn’t stress at all but it recovers pretty well, still its development slightly pauses. Responds well to bending. Had no issues with mold but it’s because of the conditions I provided since I didn’t want to impose a whole survival test on it. Blooming is lush, the aroma is wonderful, refreshing. For me, it resembles spice, mulled wine with orange peel. Buds just have a citrus-like smell. Vivid and positive effect. All timidity and insecurity fade away. But thirst and hunger are no joke. I really craved some beer, couldn’t help myself and had some

You get it, right? I couldn’t ignore it. And it was worth it. Ordered more, will spare a whole box just for the Californian Orange. I simply love oranges, the perfect smell for me. And it’s so pure and the effect is corresponding - refreshing, invigorating and joyful, giving a thought of holidays

    • Advantages
Legendary genetics, taste, smell. Balanced effect of average potency
    • Disadvantages
Phenotype. Out of 5 seeds got 3 plants more sativa, 2 - more indica
    • General impressions

Everything seems fine, yet there is phenotype. They grow well, even flower and ripen simultaneously. But there is a difference in the final product. Sativa buds always flavoured more earthy and skunk and indica ones were more like earthy-orange. Speaking of potency, I’m more used to something harder. These don’t hit hard enough. In general, I believe it’s worth trying, especially since genetics are legendary, which they at least tried to leave unchanged but I'm not so sure

    • Advantages
      It’s my first grow 😊
    • Disadvantages
      I made some newbie mistakes
    • General impressions

My first grow. I'm running a 1 sqm grow box with a 400w HPS with a digital ballast supposed to be 10% more efficient than a standard magnetic one. Six weeks into flowering, I added in some LEDs (Bloomed X135) that seemed to play out well. (I'm planning to go all LED, but the investment has to be spaced out over time...).
24 days of veg and coming up on 70 days of 12/12. Cannabio soil and nutrient program. A Plagron booster added in the flowering stage.
I probably made some newbie mistakes over the course of the grow (overwatering at one stage, added nutes too often at another stage, let the box peak at 33,1 C° at yet another). It felt like a long time before actual flowers started growing after the switch to 12/12. Still, these ladies seem to be doing well, despite my efforts to the contrary. I FIMed two, leaving the third to develop freely. The stretch was amazing (+100%). The non-FIMed of these is 190cm (Around 6'5''). The others are close behind at 170cm. I have pruned lower fan leaves continuously, for air and convenience when watering. Some say do, some say don't. So I did.
