Mango and Weed Chocolate Recipe: The High Elevation

There are so many fun and interesting ways to enjoy cannabis edibles, and of course, weed chocolate is at the top of the list! Making your own edibles doesn’t have to be complicated either – weed chocolate bars are some of the easiest edibles to make at home.

Making weed chocolate yourself gives you the chance to customize your chocolate and satisfy your tastebuds. You can add anything you like, including dried fruit, nuts, and even potato crisps!

With this recipe, we’re going to make weed chocolate with mango bits to enhance the effects of the marijuana. Ready to get started? Let’s go!

What Are The Effects Of Weed Chocolate?

Enjoying your cannabis in the form of edibles is an entirely different experience in comparison to smoking it. Edibles need to go through your digestive system before the effects are felt, which can take some time and also produce a different type of high.

After you ingest an edible – for example, a piece of your weed chocolate – it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours before the effects become apparent. Effects also last much longer, often several hours consistently, compared to smoking, and are much more psychedelic.

Why Add Mango: The Entourage Effect

Mango and cannabis go together like peanut butter and jelly, but more than just for flavor! Adding mango to your weed chocolate can significantly improve the quality and intensity of your cannabis experience and even shorten the time it takes to feel the effects of eating your edible by around half!

Mango and weed work magic together because of something called the entourage effect. Yes, it’s complicated science stuff, but let’s try and simplify it:

Myth Or Reality: How Mangoes Affect Smoking WeedREAD NOW

The entourage effect refers to the way marijuana is experienced in relation to certain terpenes and chemicals, some of which are naturally found in cannabis. Terpenes are the chemicals responsible for the flavors and smell of plants, and they can not only affect the way THC binds to the cannabinoid system, but also exert effects of their own.

Mangos contain a terpene called myrcene, which is known for its sedative and analgesic properties. Myrcene naturally occurs in cannabis and is said to be responsible for the “couch-lock” effect that many smokers report from strong Indica cannabis strains.

Adding mango to your weed chocolate will increase the amount of myrcene in your edibles, ultimately inducing a more powerful high.

The Key Ingredient: Cannabutter

To make weed chocolate, you’re going to need cannabutter. If you don’t have any prepared, you can make your own cannabutter before starting with this weed chocolate recipe. You’ll need around 7g of weed, 1 cup of unsalted butter, and 1 cup of water.

Start by decarboxylating your weed – otherwise, you won’t experience any effects from your cannabutter. Pour your water into a large pan with a pot placed in the water. Once the water is boiling, add the butter to the smaller pot. While the butter melts, cut up your decarbed weed before mixing it into the melted butter.

Allow the mixture to simmer for 3-4 hours while topping up the water in the pan as required. Remove from the heat and strain the mixture through a cheesecloth into a container to remove the leftover flower. Allow the cannabutter to set before using.

Making The Mango Weed Chocolate

Now for the fun part: making the delicious mango weed chocolate! This recipe is simple, easy to follow, and shows you how to make your chocolates with an even dosage between each piece.

Equipment

Start by getting all your equipment ready, as there won’t be a moment to spare once your chocolate starts melting.

  • 2 microwave-safe bowls
  • Chocolate molds
  • Microwave
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Spoon
  • Oil spray/cannabutter
  • Dropper

Equipment

Note: If you don’t have a microwave, you can use a double boiler to melt your ingredients on the stove. The principle is the same: once most of the chocolate has melted, remove from heat and continue to stir until any lumps have dissolved.

Ingredients

Now that your equipment is all set, gather your ingredients together. If you want to make more weed chocolates at a time, simply double the measurements.

  • ¼ cup of cannabutter (0.5oz)
  • 4 cups of chocolate (9oz)
  • 1 cup of dried mango (2.25oz)

Ingredients

Step 1: Prepare Your Ingredients

  • Start by cutting your chocolate into fine pieces.
  • Place inside a plastic bowl.
  • Next, cut the dried mango into tiny bits and put to the side.
  • Place your cannabutter into your other plastic bowl and defrost in microwave until just melted – be careful not to burn it.

Step 2: Temper Your Chocolate

  • Place your plastic bowl with the cut-up chocolate into the microwave and heat for 30 seconds.
  • Remove and stir thoroughly.
  • Place back in the microwave and heat for another 15 seconds.
  • Remove and stir thoroughly.
  • Heat for another 10 seconds.
  • Remove and if at least 80% of the chocolate is melted, do not heat again – just stir until the existing heat melts the rest.

Step 3: Mold And Dose

  • Now that your chocolate is ready, grease your molds with oil spray (or use cannabutter instead of the oil spray to increase the potency).
  • Using a spoon, fill your molds to 2/3-3/4 with the melted chocolate.
  • Quickly add your desired amount of melted cannabutter to each mold using your dropper or a teaspoon and stir in gently (another way of doing it is mixing the cannabutter in with the melted chocolate first, then pouring over the molds – this method is especially good if you’re making big chocolate bars).

Step 4: Add The Mango

  • Before your chocolate starts to set, sprinkle in the mango pieces.

Add The Mango

Note: You can also choose to mix the mango into the chocolate and cannabutter mixture first, then pour everything together over the molds. This will slightly change the texture of the final product, so is purely a matter of preference.

Step 5: Refrigerate And Enjoy!

  • Carefully place your molds in the fridge and allow them to set.
  • Once the chocolates have firmed, pop them out of the molds and store in an airtight container in the fridge.

How Strong Will This Chocolate Be?

The potency of your weed chocolate will depend on the strength of weed you used to make your cannabutter and whether your cannabutter was prepared correctly. Consider what strain you’re using and how high its THC percentage is.

When in doubt, start small and wait for the effects. If they’re light, take a bit more and repeat until you find the best dosage. Always wait at least 30 minutes to 2 hours before taking more.

Curl Up On The Couch And Enjoy!

Now that you’ve successfully made creamy, delicious weed chocolate, it’s time to pop a piece in your mouth, get comfy on the couch with a good movie, and wait for the effects. Enjoy the stress melting off your shoulders and try not to eat the whole slab!

We know it’s chocolate, but this mango weed bar will have you forgetting where you are and crawling from A to B! Speaking of crawling, remember to keep your chocolates safely out of reach from snooping children and unsuspecting pets. Enjoy with caution, and embrace the mango glory!
